BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) — An issuecosting a local non-profit tens of thousands of dollars.
Donation boxes for Idaho Youth Ranch are placed throughout the Treasure Valley for people to drop off things that fit. Things like clothing, shoes, and jewelry.
Here is the problem – people are treating the donation boxes more like a trash can. Dumping everything from tires to old toys broken beyond repair.
You are only supposed to leave items that are too large for the drop box at an Idaho Youth Ranch location. They accept everything from old clothes to a basketball hoop.
A photo posted to Facebook shows Kuna’s drop box that has been an ongoing issue for the community.
Whitney Springston is the Director of Marketing for the organization. She says the dumping is costing Idaho Youth Ranch thousands.
“The dumping is a huge issue for us that costs us literally tens of thousands of dollars. It has actually caused us to change one of our programs that helps local schools,” Springston said.
