Thanksgiving travelers to Salt Lake City: Beware of winter storm advisories

Are you traveling to Salt Lake City on Thanksgiving weekend? The National Weather Service (NWS) reports several surrounding areas have winter storm warnings and winter weather advisories.

Several cities north of Salt Lake City, including Brigham City and Ogden, have winter storm advisories. Other areas south and east of Salt Lake City, like Provo and Park City, have winter weather advisories. Take caution and drive safely if you are going near these areas.

NWS says Salt Lake City should expect rain and snow from 8 p.m. Thanksgiving Day to 2 a.m. Friday. Snow is likely after 2 a.m., and new snow accumulation of less than half an inch is possible.

On Friday, snow is likely mainly before 11 a.m. New snow accumulation of less than half an inch is also possible. Sunday and Saturday are expected to see more sunshine with high temperatures near 37 degrees.
