FIRST PHOTO: Kihei’s Audrey Pleva reunites with her groggy pit bull Catahoula mix Mira Friday afternoon at the Good Fix: Central Maui Free Spay/Neuter Clinic held at the Hawaiian Animal Rescue Foundation multi-use barn in Waiehu. Organizers of the four-day clinic said they expected to spay or neuter about 1,000 cats and dogs. Presented by Good Fix, which is a program of the international Greater Good Charities, it was held with the assistance of HARF, the Maui Humane Society and community volunteers. The 15-person Good Fix medical crew was comprised of personnel from around the Mainland, as well as one from Mexico. Good Fix Vice President Laura Littlebear said its teams have conducted clinics on Molokai and in Hana, and is scheduled to send one to Ukraine next week. Pleva said she appreciated the effort. “For how difficult it is to be a pet owner on Maui, to have a charity help like this is huge,” Pleva said.
